More than 30 years ago, we received information about a great tree log at the Tokyo Brigade Forestry Office. We immediately went to see it and a few days later we won the auction for this tree. The front page of the Daily Lumber News, carried an article about the high bid for the Kaya log, and it became the talk of the town. The log was used to make several boards, which were made by a master Go board maker, Atsuo Kito.
