[By Seihō, Shōgetsu]

[清峰作・松月書]

 Price : 250,000 JPY

 Product ID:A332

A rare example of Mikura peacock figured wood. This old wood possesses the unique character found only in natural timber, and even when compared to Satsuma wood, its fine grain and deep color stand out. The calligraphy, “Shōgetsu,” is the signature of Yumiko Ogasawara, a Traditional Craftsman from Tendo. She is renowned for her elegant brushwork, even in single-character carvings. Seihō’s powerful carving is also superb, making this a single-character piece of unparalleled luxury.

Mikura Tsuge peacock figured Carved pieces
[By Seihō, Muken]

[清峰作・無剣]

 Price : 280,000 JPY

 Product ID:A331

This is Muken, a popular typeface from Seihō that requires twice as much work as standard typefaces. Muken is based on the handwriting of Chifuyu Watanabe, an entrepreneur from the Meiji era. I acquired the original character templates—a source of great pride—from Seizan when he was young, and have meticulously recreated the characters with the exact same subtle variations in stroke. Crafted from the finest Mikura wood, this piece truly showcases the advantages of hand-carving.
