　This is the typeface favored by "Sofu Amano," Kisei of the end of the Edo period. Also known as "Meijin Koma", it is very popular and sells well. To make the tiger striped wood stand out, we chose a somewhat smaller typeface, Sofu-Gonomi. Customers often make fun of the fact that Maruhachi is only selling pieces with large characters, so why not try the popular Sofu-Gonomi with small typefaces once in a while?

　Shoryusai is a normal typeface preferred by everyone. Shoryusai, a shamisen player of the Meiji era, is said to be the author of this typeface, and Okuno Ikko also named this typeface Okuno-Kinki, which is really popular. This time, we had this piece made with a special top-quality wood of peacock grain. Shozan, is a very dedicated and studious person, especially when it comes to the study of the typefaces. We are happy to see his works gaining popularity.

　Three sets of Shozan's popular works are now available. Among the typefaces he specializes in, Minase is a traditional typeface favored by everyone. We were able to obtain about 25 sets from the 2000 pieces of Satsuma wood we purchased last spring, and we used the finest peacock wood we had in stock. Because of the dark color of the wood, we decided to make a powerful Minase with a lot of lacquer. Shozan's works have recently become especially popular, and the number of order-made customers has been increasing.
